The task of this project is to design a more experimental and expressive framework of calendar beyond the traditional format, based on researching a particular visual artist who inspires me.
My chosen artist is James Casebere who is an American artist and photographer born in 1953. For over 40 years Casebere has constructed fabricated miniature spaces from materials like paper and wood by himself, manipulated lights, and captured them on camera in his personal studio. By doing so he explores the relationship between sculpture, architecture, and photography.
The idea is to create architectural miniatures, where a monthly calendar is on each wall, that are associated with Casebere's works. While working on the construction, I explored how the structures interlock each other. I chose Avenir because it is connected to the geometric shapes of the miniatures and it matches with soft colors of the pieces.
